Summer '08 in southern Colorado

Leading Kids Today was founded in 2008 by Carolyn Heacock, the children’s pastor at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church.  She is thrilled to have the privilege of spending the bulk of her day in ministry and is most energized by equipping leaders with the tools they need to be successful in the ministry to which God has called them. She also is committed to partnering with parents for the faith of their children.

Prior to working full time at her church, she taught English as a second language and supervised graduate teaching assistants at the Applied English Center of the University of Kansas for many years.  Teaching and leading have always been her passions and she is constantly looking for opportunities to help leaders fine tune their skills so they can lead others effectively.

Carolyn’s favorite past times are riding her bike, hiking in the mountains, and about anything else outdoors that doesn’t involve much hand-eye coordination.

Carolyn lives in Lawrence, KS with her husband, Doug, and son, Tim.  Her two daughters, Rebekah and Katie, are grown and pursuing their own dreams in life.

One Response to “About”

  1. Hi Carolyn-
I was browsing thru Facebook tonight and clicked on your picture. I noticed your blog and was moved to read thru it. I have been feeling called (and resisting the call BIG time) to start a class or group for 4th and 5th grade boys at our church, because my 9yr old very active boy just doesn’t enjoy church at all- especially Sunday School. My thought was to have a YoungLife type approach- something silly but engaging as a way to open the door. Do you have any resources you think would be helpful?

    Love– your far away cousin-
    Peggy
